Wellness Wednesday: Senior Pups

As most of you know I turn 12 tomorrow and am a senior pup. As we pups get older it’s more and more important to monitor any changes going on with us. When I turned 9 I started going to the vet twice a year for a checkup and blood panel as opposed to once a year. My vet said the biggest things to monitor are any changes in my drinking, eating or bathroom habits. Something as small as me drinking more water can be a sign of something more serious. The earlier a condition is diagnosed the better the prognosis is. As pups age it’s easy to say that things are changing because of age but that isn’t always the case so be sure to reach out to your vet if you notice any changes to make sure it’s not something more serious. Do you do anything special to take care of your senior pet? Have you ever noticed something that helped you diagnose a condition early?
